...swimming pools and we would often go back to one or another of their homes for a midnight swim!  Usually their parents were away so we were never disturbed.  Once we had been to a fancy dress party where Kev had dressed up as a knight with tights and tabard on – these were abandoned at the side of the pool where our friend’s gardener found them next day.  Apparently he took our friend to one side and whispered “I think your young lady has left these behind”.  His face must have been a picture when Carl said “Oh no, those are Kev’s!” The pool parties were great fun and once we’d dried ourselves off we headed for the house to find some food a...

...swimming pool and facilities for drama, music, films, crafts, conferences and other activities.  A bold plan indeed!  The monks lived in the Lodge and Gatehouse having full use of the Hall and its surroundings for four years while they appealed for money.  They even demolished the kitchens and laundry block at one end of the house in readiness for the swimming pool which was going to be built there.  However, the money was not forthcoming and they were asked to leave with a large part of the house demolished and the gardens in sad neglect.  I’m not sure how they were allowed to knock bits down before buying the property but they must have been sure of th...
