...ed in the churchyard and we had found her grave after hearing the noises and stories about her.  I think she was about 9 years old. My mum at the grave of the girl whose ghost haunt's the Hall Because we lived at the Hall the vicar expected to see us at church every week; however, weekends were our busy time so we didn’t go every week but managed to attend at Easter and Christmas.  I have to say we were non too keen on going to church as we had to be on our best behaviour (something which didn’t sit easily with us as you’ve probably guessed!).  Afterwards though we all went across the road to the vicarage for tea and biscuits.  There was alwa...

...unded the churchyard and they passed through the iron gate and made their way around to the front porch. The church was always open and seemed to attract quite a lot of visitors; however, there was no-one about that day and the children made their way inside. “Gosh it’s so gloomy in here,” said Gavin. “I don’t know why people want to visit this place – there’s nothing to do or see inside.” They wandered down the aisle looking at leaflets on the way. When they got to the altar they noticed two enormous candles at each end of it. “Let’s light the candles,” Gavin shouted. “That will brighten the place up.” With that he climbed up onto...

...the local churchyard – I think she was about 8 years old. All very sad but it didn’t stop me being absolutely terrified every time I went to bed. Climbing the huge staircase at night on my own, often using a torch to save leaving the lights on, was no fun! Walking along the bedroom corridor knowing there were all those dark empty rooms nearby, well, your imagination runs wild I can tell you!   My mum next to the grave of the ghost girl   My brother Gavin and I had turned one of the attic rooms into a ‘den’ for us to hang out in. We found an old table and chairs to take up there and I had an ancient typewriter which I used to type up stories on...

...rough the churchyard, the drops of blood racing ahead of me, until I reached the vicarage across the road. The vicar answered my knock and told me that my dad had collapsed on his doorstep earlier that day and was now in the local cottage hospital! Scene of the crime - The Library!   So now it had come to this. I later found out that my dad had gone into the Library to rip up and sabotage the mediaeval banquet costumes and my mum had found him there – an argument had ensued which became violent. My dad had an awful temper and would sometimes attack my mum during these rows (I once found him in the kitchen with his hands round my mum’s throat) so she...
