...r another blog!  The guinea pigs were safely put back into their hutch -  not long after this we discovered that one of them had had babies when we weren’t looking!  Not sure what happened in the Library but they were both supposed to be girls when we bought them! After a couple of months at college I met a boy called Kev.  He was in a band and his chat up line was that they needed a singer and he was pretty sure he could get me an audition (it must have worked as we’re still together all these years later!). ...ARISTOCRATIC TRAVELS PART 2:    During the latter part of the 1800s Emily Charlotte Meynell travelled around the Mediterranean on board her schooner, Ariadne, recording her travels in her many diaries and drawing books, as mentioned in my previous blog.  I have now found the photo of her yacht and one of her paintings; she was a skilled water colour artist as you can see but had a particular affection for nautical subjects.  One particular holiday around Nice in the South of France with her brother Charles is documented by the water-colour paintings they both made.  Soon after her husband Hugo's death in 1871, she embarked on a Mediterranean tour with her...
