...ne was my birthday present and the cost was half what it actually was – he still went a funny colour though!
Another trip out was to the Grand Hotel in Leicester as our banquet singer was doing a gig there with Dana and Peters and Lee. Mum loved them so as it was her birthday she and I went along too and had a lovely evening out complete with dinner which cost the grand total of £7.56 for two! We even pretended we were sisters for fun and when the waiters found out it was mum’s birthday, they all sang “Happy birthday” to her – what a night!

...Gavin’s birthday was New Year’s Day so he was allowed to come down just before midnight and everyone would sing Happy birthday to him. Not many youngsters of that age had 500 people singing birthday wishes to them and a huge party in their house!
