...pparently Japanese swordsmiths were the greatest that the world has ever known. The method of making them goes back over 1000 years and was introduced by a blacksmith called Hoki Yasutsuna. He was the first person to make the single-edged curved sword and the method used by him is still used today. However, the way they tested the swords on criminals back in the day was very gory and I won’t go into it here!

But even though we cleared a lot of weeds, the outskirts of the gardens were still very overgrown as well as the woods which had once had lovely pathways through them where Victorian ladies and gentlemen took their afternoon strolls.

We soon got used to having people wandering around our house, although they weren’t allowed upstairs. Gavin and I were quite the little monkeys and usually involved our little brother in our tricks too. We would hang over the balcony near the stairs and watch people walk by then...
