In 1782, Hugo Meynell's grandfather, Hugo Meynell of Quorndon, the 'father of fox hunting', married the Hon. ...d a small chapel installed aboard.   These two pictures were taken in Africa, possibly from her Nile trip, although there are other photos showing members of the family in foreign climes.  Emily cruised the Mediterranean, the North Sea, the Baltic and around the British Isles between 1886 and 1897 - all her trips were recorded in ten leather bound volumes of diaries and logs, all beautifully illustrated with paintings, sketches, and photographs.   If only we could see them today!  The schooner was disposed of in 1897 as Emily got older and less able to travel.  The Ariadne survives to this day and was restored in the 1990s at Hamble on Southampton Wate...
