...eries and ghosts but when you’re actually in the middle of it in real life, it’s a bit different! My parents also heard noises from their bedroom. It sounded like a room full of people talking, like at a party. They couldn’t work out if it was birds nesting under the eaves so they slept in another room down the corridor to see if they still heard it – and sure enough, they did! What was going on? Had we disturbed some lost souls forever wandering in the attics? The haunted attic corridor   One night my mum was woken up by the sight of a little girl ‘floating’ over the bed. Another of my mum's Victorian dresses   Dresses showing long trains behind   As the end of the century approached bodices became longer and tighter and dresses stuck out more at the back as now they had a bustle under the cloth. Trains became longer with ribbons and bows all over them until in the 1880s a movement called the ‘Victorian dress reform’ tried to advocate simpler styles, no tightlacing and lightweight underwear, so clothes would be more comfortable and practical.   Ladies’ pursuits such as cycling and tennis were also becoming popular which demanded a greater ease in movement in clothing.  Of...
