...ck in the 70s I was freely given it (aged 17) and was not monitored at all by the GP. I took it for well over a year and mixed it with alcohol totally oblivious to the effects it might have on me – one of them being that I frequently had horrendous hallucinations. My dad was already visiting a psychiatrist each week and my mum took me to see one too! Our family really was falling apart at the seams!
However, the feud went on and my dad was still selling items from the house unbeknown to my mum. He had a beautiful wooden musical box which played pretty tunes when wound up. My mum had hidden it away in her old bedroom under lock and key so my dad asked up to br...

...ck in the 70s when a ceiling moulding had fallen on somebody’s head. Imagine the looks on our faces when we realised it was my own stately home he was referring to – this inspection cost us £1500 - and all because of my dad!

...n typical 70s style! He whisked me off for a tour of the circuit on a small fun motor bike – the only trouble was that it was our last day and we were already in the queue to get out. Chris told my dad that he would take me for a quick ride round while he was queuing but when we got back my dad had gone as he had to move with the queue and wasn’t able to stop anywhere along the road.

...e rage in 70s Britain. They cost an absolute fortune and we had to tell my dad that mine was my birthday present and the cost was half what it actually was – he still went a funny colour though!
Another trip out was to the Grand Hotel in Leicester as our banquet singer was doing a gig there with Dana and Peters and Lee. Mum loved them so as it was her birthday she and I went along too and had a lovely evening out complete with dinner which cost the grand total of £7.56 for two! We even pretended we were sisters for fun and when the waiters found out it was mum’s birthday, they all sang “Happy Birthday” to her – what a night!
