...with his gun (he had a licence by the way!) and scaring all the banquet staff.  When the Police arrived, my dad was doing no such thing; he was watching TV.  The banquet staff were all hiding in the woods (as they’d been told to do, we found out afterwards) so that it looked believable – unfortunately, the Police couldn’t really do much about it as it was a domestic situation on private land. In the middle of all this my dad had acquired an Amazon parrot!  (From the jungle, not the online store!)  Apparently he came as part of an antique deal from a dealer who owed my dad some money.  My dad agreed to take the parrot as settlement believing he could...
