...d all the bells laid out on a table ready for the bellringers and decided to switch them around so that they were in the wrong order. Then one of the posh ladies asked Viv to hand round the trays of cake to which Viv took umbrage – however, she took the tray and before handing them out they found some mustard which they pushed inside the cakes to give them a bit of zing! By now they were getting bored and as per usual, when they got bored, they got up to mischief! More mischief! They stood by the table with all the food on it and when no-one was looking they took the custard cream biscuits apart, licked all the cream out then put them back together again on th...

...servants bells in the attic   Back down in the basement were all the old kitchens including the Boot Boy’s room, laundry room, pantries and sculleries. Along the wall of the passageway was a row of bells (see picture above) and the names of the rooms to which they belonged – these were here so that the servants could be summoned to do their master’s bidding – they were also used in a prank by myself and my brother when we were visited by a team of professional ghost hunters - but that’s another story which will be featured in a later blog!   Don’t miss next week’s instalment:   'Moving Day Arrives!'   Follow me around my childhood hom...
